Thank you for your interest in joining the archaeological excavations at the Roman site of Vindolanda in 2009. The Vindolanda Trust has been accepting volunteers on to its excavations since its foundation in 1970, and over 3000 people have benefited from this challenging experience. The Vindolanda Trust recognises the substantial contribution of its volunteer excavators to our understanding of the site, and therefore Roman Britain as a whole. At Vindolanda, we are committed to the view that volunteer excavators should continue to have the opportunity to share in the experience of working on one of the most archaeologically exciting sites in western Europe, and part of the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site. This information has been designed to give a prospective volunteer excavator as much information as possible about the forthcoming excavations, and to help you enjoy a rewarding experience.
The applications for the 2009 excavation season will be open from 12 noon on 1st November 2008. Anyone interested in being added to the waiting list or who want to be notified when the application for 2009 open email info@vindolanda.com For further information, or help regarding the excavations in 2009, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me at Vindolanda.
